Proposed amendments
Dr Shane Reti, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 7
In clause 7(1)(e)(v), replace “.”
(page 12, line 5) with “:”

In clause 7, after paragraph (e) (page 12, after line 5), insert:
(f)
the health sector should ensure that rural communities—
(i)
have access to services in proportion to their health needs; and
(ii)
receive equitable levels of service; and
(iii)
achieve equitable health outcomes.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Bill by adding a health sector principle that recognises the importance of rural communities in New Zealand. Rural communities are substantive in number and significant in their unique needs and the health challenges that rurality brings. This Supplementary Order Paper focuses rural health needs as a health sector principle with specific regard to access, equity of service, and equity of outcomes.
