Oversight of Oranga Tamariki System and Children and Young People’s Commission Bill
Proposed amendments
Harete Hipango, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 6
In clause 6(h), after subparagraph (i) (page 10, after line 10), insert:
(ia)
ensure that they have as a key priority the need to support improved outcomes for children and young people, with particular attention to the need to support improved outcomes for Māori children and young people; and
Clause 38
In clause 38, after paragraph (a) (page 23, after line 28), insert:
(aa)
ensure that they have as a key priority the need to support improved outcomes for children and young people, with particular attention to the need to support improved outcomes for Māori children and young people; and
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Oversight of Oranga Tamariki System and Children and Young People’s Commission Bill. The obligation on the Monitor to ensure that in setting strategic priorities and work programmes they have as a key priority the need to support improved outcomes for Māori children and young people is also relevant for the Ombudsman in relation to the complaints function.
