Proposed amendments
Harete Hipango, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 14
In clause 14(2)(c), replace “.”
(page 16, line 4) with “:”

In clause 14(2), after paragraph (c) (page 16, after line 4), insert:
(d)
on the Monitor’s own initiative or at the request of the Minister, to advise the Minister on any matter that relates to the administration of that Act or regulations made under the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989:
(e)
to keep under review, and make recommendations on, the working of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Oversight of Oranga Tamariki System and Children and Young People’s Commission Bill. The Monitor’s functions are missing the function to have oversight of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 itself, and care and protection policies. This is something that is in the current Children’s Commissioner 2003 legislation and would be a significant gap if left out.
