Plain Language Bill
Proposed amendment
Hon Michael Woodhouse, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 8
In clause 8, insert as subclauses (2) and (3) (page 5, after line 32):
(2)
Reporting agencies—
(a)
must meet the cost of employing a plain language officer appointed under subsection (1) from within the agency’s existing funding; and
(b)
must not receive any additional appropriation for the purpose of employing a plain language officer.
(3)
Subsection (2)(b) applies despite any provision or appropriation contained in any Appropriation Act or Imprest Supply Act to the contrary.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Plain Language Bill. It would ensure any plain language officers appointed are paid for from the agency’s existing funding, not from any further increase to their budget.
