Proposed amendments

Ricardo Menéndez March, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 5

In clause 5(2) (page 2, line 17), delete “and (b)”.

After clause 5(2) (page 2, after line 18), insert:

(3)

Repeal section 67B(5)(b).

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends the Employment Relations (Trial Periods) Amendment Bill. It enables employees who are dismissed under a trial provision to request, in accordance with section 120 of the Employment Relations Act 2000, a statement of reasons for dismissal. This is important in counterbalancing the extra power that the Employment Relations (Trial Periods) Amendment Bill grants employers over employees.
