Clause 276
In clause 276(3)(b)(vi), replace “5 megawatts”
(page 284, lines 32 and 33) with “1 megawatt”

Schedule 15
In Part 3 of Schedule 15, new Part 6 of Schedule 12 of the Resource Management Act 1991, clause 40(3)(b)(vi), replace “5 megawatts”
(page 1109, lines 30 and 31) with “1 megawatt”
.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Natural and Built Environment Bill. The exemptions to the 10-year water permit consent duration include “hydrogeneration facilities with an operation capacity of 5 megawatts or greater”, regardless of their connection status. However, this is an arbitrary limit with no policy rationale, and still excludes some 60MW of renewable hydro-electricity generation from accessing longer-term water permits.
