Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 40
In clause 40, new section 212G(2), replace “the Authorisation Board” (page 17, line 13) with “the school board, school community, school staff, and students”.
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training Amendment Bill. The view of the Authorisation Board should not be the one sought by the Minister, since those who are most affected by any direction are the school board, school community, school staff, and students. It also creates a conflict of interest whereby the Authorisation Board cannot go against its own advice to the Minister when considering the approval of an application from a State school under the direction of the Minister.
