Proposed amendment

Ricardo Menéndez March, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 15

In clause 15, new section 236A(6)(b), replace “even if” (page 17, line 34) with “or until”.

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends the Social Security Amendment Bill. This amendment ensures that money management is lifted once they have complied with their outstanding obligation, rather than only at the end of the four week period. It is unfair for beneficiaries to still be subjected to a sanction after they have met requirements to comply, and discourages beneficiaries subject to the sanction from prompt compliance.
