Amendment Paper
Social Security Amendment Bill
Proposed amendments
Ricardo Menéndez March, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 10
Delete clause 10 (page 11, line 1 to page 13, line 30).
Clause 40
Delete clause 40 (page 43, lines 5 to 8).
Clause 58
In clause 58(1), delete the new definition of jobseeker profile (page 49, lines 7 and 8).
Schedule 2
In Schedule 2, delete clause 100 (page 65, lines 15 to 25).
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper sets out amendments to the Social Security Amendment Bill to remove the requirement for jobseekers to complete a jobseeker profile in order to receive a benefit. This is because a requirement to complete a jobseeker profile adds extra hurdles in the way of a jobseeker receiving the support they need to stay out of poverty. A mandatory requirement fails to recognise the complex circumstances of many jobseekers.
