Proposed amendment
Hon Marama Davidson, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 5
Replace clause 5, new section 12(3) (page 2, lines 25 to 28) with:
(3)
As soon as is reasonably practicable after receiving a request under subsection (1)(b), the manufacturer must—
(a)
comply with the request; and
(b)
if it is likely to take longer than 20 working days to comply with the request, notify the consumer in writing of the delay, the reason for the delay, and the expected time frame for complying with the request.
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper amends the Consumer Guarantees (Right to Repair) Amendment Bill to allow a manufacturer to inform the customer if they are unable to comply with the 20 working day time frame to provide parts, tools, or information, with the reasons why.
