Responding to Abuse in Care Legislation Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Kahurangi Carter, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Part 2
Delete Part 2 (page 7, lines 7 to 13).
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper deletes Part 2 of the Responding to Abuse in Care Legislation Amendment Bill, which makes changes to the Crimes Act 1961. Community feedback on the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Historical Abuse in State Care and in the Care of Faith-based Institutions’ Final Report recommendation 26, to include disability in the definition of vulnerable adult, was that this takes a deficit approach. This amendment therefore implements this feedback by removing this amendment to the Crimes Act.
