Education and Training (Vocational Education and Training System) Amendment Bill

Proposed amendment

Francisco Hernandez, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 22: new section 315

In clause 22, replace new section 315(2)(b) (page 12, line 1) with:

(b)

consult all of the following:

(i)

any local authority (within the meaning of section 5(1) of the Local Government Act 2002) with jurisdiction over the area in which the proposed polytechnic is being established:

(ii)

any chamber of commerce that operates within the area in which the proposed polytechnic is being established:

(iii)

any union registered under Part 4 of the Employment Relations Act 2000 that operates within the area in which the proposed polytechnic is being established:

(iv)

any existing institution that operates within the area in which the proposed polytechnic is being established; and

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends clause 22 of the Education and Training (Vocational Education and Training System) Amendment Bill to replace new section 315(2)(b) to require the Minister to consult with certain persons or bodies before recommending that polytechnic be established.
