Proposed amendment

Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 12

In clause 12, new section 281A(2), delete paragraph (f) (page 7, lines 6 to 9).

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training Amendment Bill (No 2). While it may be reasonable to expect a university to adopt a policy on freedom of expression, which many universities already do, having an explicit statement on invited speakers is too operational and contrived to be included as part of a broader policy statement. Clearly the addition of this new subsection is based on personal vendetta and not on sound evidence or legislative drafting.
