Proposed amendment

Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 8

In clause 8, new section 127(1), after “educational achievement” (page 4, lines 11 and 12), insert “in an inclusive environment”.

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training Amendment Bill (No 2). A student’s educational achievement is intricately linked to their sense of belonging. Any educational environment that does not address the needs of students will risk failing marginalised and vulnerable students. This amendment addresses this concern as expressed by educators but does not contract the purpose of the bill of having a singular paramount objective.
