Proposed amendment

Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 8

After clause 8, new section 127(2)(e)(iii) (page 5, after line 2), insert:

(iv)

providing educational opportunities to board members and staff on Te Tiriti o Waitangi:

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training Amendment Bill (No 2). An important aspect of giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the education system is to provide ongoing support and learning opportunities for staff and board members. Currently, there are inconsistent, and even insufficient, opportunities for board members to develop their understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
