Proposed amendment

Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Clause 15

Delete clause 15(3) (page 8, lines 13 to 17).

Explanatory note

This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training Amendment Bill (No 2). The Teaching Council of Aotearoa New Zealand is an independent agency and should be upheld as an independent agency. It should not be mandated to follow any instructions from the executive branch of the Government. Doing so will risk politicising the agency which will be detrimental to the education sector.
