Animal Welfare (Regulations for Management of Pigs) Amendment Bill

Steve Abel, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

Schedule 2

In Schedule 2, new Schedule 3, regulation 25(1), replace the formula with:

a = 0.040 × b^0.67

This Amendment Paper amends the Animal Welfare (Regulations for Management of Pigs) Amendment Bill.

The National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee recommended a minimum space allowance for grower pigs equivalent to a k value¹ of 0.040.

¹The constant (k) used when calculating the area for static space allowance for pigs.
