Amendment Paper
Education and Training (System Reform) Amendment Bill
Proposed amendments
Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan, in Committee, to move the following amendments:
Clause 5
In clause 5(1), delete the new definition of conversion date (page 7, lines 3 and 4).
Clause 25
In clause 25, after new section 212ZEB(6) (page 17, after line 18), insert:
(7)
In this section, conversion date, in relation to a converted school, means the date on which a State school becomes a charter school.
Explanatory note
This Amendment Paper amends the Education and Training (System Reform) Amendment Bill. It is peculiar to insert specific definitions pertaining to a specific section in section 10 of the Education and Training Act. For example, section 64 contains the definition on term dates and are specifically relevant to that section only. For consistency with the order priority for definition under statutory interpretation, the definition for “conversion date” should be moved under the section(s) to which it relates.
