Explanatory note

General policy statement

The purpose of this Bill is to confirm the Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Amendment Order 2017. That order is subordinate legislation that, by virtue of section 42C of the Civil Aviation Act 1990, is a confirmable instrument. It will be revoked at the close of 30 June 2018 unless it is earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament.

Clause by clause analysis

Clause 1 is the Title clause.

Clause 2 provides that the Bill, when enacted, comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives Royal assent.

Clause 3 sets out the purpose of the Bill, which is to confirm the Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Amendment Order 2017. That order is a confirmable instrument that was made on 29 May 2017 and came into force on 1 July 2017. Under section 47C(1)(a) of the Legislation Act 2012 it will be revoked at the close of 30 June 2018, unless it is confirmed by an Act of Parliament on or before that date.

Clause 4 ensures that the Bill, when enacted, binds the Crown.

Clause 5 confirms the Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Amendment Order 2017.

The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

This Act is the Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Act 2018.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Purpose

The purpose of this Act is to confirm the Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Amendment Order 2017, which is a confirmable instrument that, unless earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament, will be revoked at the close of 30 June 2018 under section 47C(1)(a) of the Legislation Act 2012.

4 Act binds the Crown

This Act binds the Crown.

5 Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Amendment Order 2017 confirmed

The Civil Aviation (Safety) Levies Amendment Order 2017 (LI 2017/108) is confirmed.
