It has been a busy two weeks since the launch of the new NZ Legislation website. We have received a large amount of valuable feedback from users which will inform how we prioritise building new features and enhancements to the site in the coming months.
In the meantime, we’re pleased to share some recent fixes and enhancements that have already been implemented.
What’s been fixed and improved
Income Tax Act 2007
Fixed an issue where the table of contents jumped to the top of a Part rather than the exact section selected.
Resolved an issue where some defined terms did not link correctly to their definitions within the Act.
Fixed a problem with the highlight feature not always appearing when navigating to a section via the table of contents.
Legislation document pages
Users can now right-click and open related information tabs in a new browser tab or window.
Removed sop.amend entries from the table of contents.
Replaced end.reprint-note in the table of contents with the correct heading.
Fixed a bug with the “search within” feature where exiting the search and refreshing the page caused the search box to reappear.
Fixed several classes of broken redirect links that previously led to 404 errors.
Search and browse improvements
Changed the default search filter on agency browse pages to alphabetical, rather than most relevant.
Changed the default filter for blank searches from most relevant to most recently updated.
Performance issues under investigation
We are also currently investigating user feedback relating to some larger pieces of legislation loading slowly and, in some cases, causing browsers to become unresponsive. We understand how disruptive this can be and are actively troubleshooting the issue to improve performance and stability. We’ll provide further updates as this work progresses.
We know there is more to do, and we want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share feedback so far. We’ll continue to roll out updates regularly and will keep you informed as further enhancements are made.
If you have feedback you haven’t shared yet, do let us know. It genuinely makes a difference.
