PURSUANT to section 6 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby gives the following notice.

  • (1) This notice may be cited as the Wildlife (Peafowl) Notice 1961.

    (2) This notice shall come into force on the date of its notification in the Gazette.

    (3) This notice shall apply throughout New Zealand.

  • In this notice the term peafowl means any bird of the species Pavo cristatus.

  • No person shall hunt or kill any peafowl on any land of which he is not the occupier, except with the prior consent in writing of the occupier of that land.

Issued under the authority of the Regulations Act 1936.
