These regulations are administered by the Department of Internal Affairs.

Pursuant to section 40 of the Passports Act 1992, Her Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

1 Title

(1)

These regulations are the Passport (Fees) Amendment Regulations 2004.

(2)

In these regulations, the Passport (Fees) Regulations 19961 are called “the principal regulations”.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 26 October 2004.

3 Schedule amended

(1)

The Schedule of the principal regulations is amended—

(a)

by inserting in item 1, after the expression “16 years”, the words “and other than in the circumstances described in item 5A”:

by inserting in item 2, after the expression “16 years”, the words “(other than in the circumstances described in item 5A)”.

(2)

The Schedule of the principal regulations is amended by inserting, in their appropriate numerical order, the following items:

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations amend the Passport (Fees) Regulations 1996 to provide for a fee of $350 for the issue of an emergency travel document on or after 26 October 2004 (this being the date from which machine-readable emergency travel documents are to be issued).

The fee includes the fee for the issue of a replacement passport, provided the person concerned surrenders their emergency travel document before its expiry.
