Pursuant to clause 6 of Schedule 7 of the Local Government Act 2002 and to section 19 of the Remuneration Authority Act 1977, the Remuneration Authority makes the following determination.

2 Commencement
  • (1) Clause 3 is deemed to have come into force on 1 December 2005.

    (2) Clause 4(1) is deemed to have come into force on 8 November 2005.

    (3) Clause 4(2) is deemed to have come into force on 1 January 2006.

    (4) Clause 4(3) is deemed to have come into force on 28 October 2005.

3 Schedule 1 amended
  • The item headed Waikato Regional Council in Schedule 1 of the principal determination is amended by omitting the expression $120 under the heading Meeting fees, and substituting the expression $50.

4 Schedule 2 amended
  • (1) The item headed Franklin District Council in Schedule 2 of the principal determination is amended by omitting the expression $76,835 under the heading Annual salary, and substituting the expression $76,328.

    (2) The item headed Porirua City Council in Schedule 2 of the principal determination is amended by omitting the items under the headings Office and Annual salary, and substituting the following items:

    Deputy Mayor$32,118
    Standing Committee Chair (2)$28,679
    Councillor$22,941

    (3) The item headed Taupo District Council in Schedule 2 of the principal determination is amended by omitting the expression $67,464 under the heading Annual salary, and substituting the expression $66,979.

Explanatory memorandum

This note is not part of the determination, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This determination amends the Local Government Elected Members Determination (No 3) 2005 as follows:

  • (with effect from 1 December 2005) adjusting the rate of meeting fees for elected members of Waikato Regional Council to enable those members to be paid for attending meetings during the second half of the year without exceeding the maximum amount of meeting fees payable:

  • (with effect from 8 November 2005) adjusting the annual salary of the Mayor of Franklin District Council to take into account the purchase of a new vehicle for the Mayor’s full private use:

  • (with effect from 1 January 2006) adjusting the annual salaries of the elected members of Porirua City Council in line with the new committee structure adopted from that date:

  • (with effect from 28 October 2005) adjusting the annual salary of the Mayor of Taupo District Council to take into account the purchase of a new vehicle for the Mayor’s full private use.
