Pursuant to sections 13 and 14(2) of the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Act 2001, the Minister of Health gives the following notice.

Notice

1 Title

This notice is the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Standards Notice 2008.

2 Commencement

This notice comes into force on 1 June 2009.

3 Standards for providing hospital care, residential disability care, and rest home care approved

This notice approves for providing hospital care, residential disability care, and rest home care Health and Disability Services Standards NZS 8134:2008, comprising—

(a)

Health and Disability Services (General) Standard, NZS 8134.0:2008:

(b)

Health and Disability Services (Core) Standards, NZS 8134.1:2008:

(c)

Health and Disability Services (Restraint Minimisation and Safe Practice) Standards, NZS 8134.2:2008:

(d)

Health and Disability Services (Infection Prevention and Control) Standards, NZS 8134.3:2008.

4 Revocations

(1)

The approval of the following standards under section 13 of the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Act 2001 is revoked:

(a)

Infection Control, NZS 8142:2000:

(b)

Restraint Minimization and Safe Practice, NZS 8141:2001:

(c)

Health and Disability Sector Standards, NZS 8134:2001

(d)

National Mental Health Sector Standard, NZS 8143:2001.

This notice, which comes into force on 1 June 2009, approves new standards for providing hospital care, residential disability care, and rest home care.

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Health and Disability Services (Safety) Standards Notice 2008 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.

2 Legal status

A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.
