These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Social Development.

Pursuant to section 132AB of the Social Security Act 1964, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Social Security (Temporary Additional Support) Amendment Regulations (No 4) 2008.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 15 January 2009.

3 Principal regulations amended
4 Schedule 1 amended

Clause 4 of Schedule 1 is amended by revoking paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph:

(a)

include, without limitation, any payments payable to the person under either of the following programmes established and approved by the Minister under section 124(1)(d) of the Act:

(i)

the Telephone Costs Payment Programme:

(ii)

the ReStart Transitional Relief Programme; but

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 15 January 2009, are made under the Social Security Act 1964 (the Act). They amend the Social Security (Temporary Additional Support) Regulations 2005. The amendment ensures certain payments are included in a person’s chargeable income (which is considered when determining the person’s eligibility for temporary additional support). The new included payments are those payable to the person under the ReStart Transitional Relief Programme established and approved by the Minister for Social Development and Employment under section 124(1)(d) of the Act.
