Grey-Faced Petrel (Northern Muttonbird) Amendment Notice 2009

Pursuant to section 6 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Conservation gives the following notice.

Notice

1 Title

  • This notice is the Grey-Faced Petrel (Northern Muttonbird) Amendment Notice 2009.

2 Commencement

  • This notice comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

3 Principal notice amended
4 Islands in respect of which permits may be issued

  • Clause 6(1) is amended by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (e):

    • “(ea) Moutohorā (also known as Whale Island):”.

5 Schedule 1 amended

  • Schedule 1 is amended by inserting the item set out in the Schedule of this notice after the item relating to Rawhiti Maori Executive.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This notice, which comes into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette, amends the Grey-Faced Petrel (Northern Muttonbird) Notice 1979 to—

  • add Moutohorā (also known as Whale Island) to the list of islands in clause 6(1) for which permits authorising the hunting or killing of grey-faced petrels (northern muttonbirds) may be issued; and

  • include Te Tapatoru ā Toi as a committee that may issue permits authorising the hunting or killing of grey-faced petrels on Moutohorā.
