14A Manufacturer’s instructions

(1)

This regulation applies if a manufacturer or importer supplies a gas appliance or fitting with manufacturer’s instructions that—

(a)

expressly apply in New Zealand; or

(b)

are silent as to where they apply.

(2)

The manufacturer’s instructions must be such that, if the gas appliance or fitting to which they apply is installed, tested, maintained, or connected in accordance with those instructions, the resulting appliance or fitting will—

(a)

comply with these regulations; and

(b)

be safe.

(3)

A person who does any gasfitting work involving a gas appliance or fitting to which manufacturer’s instructions apply is entitled (if acting in good faith) to rely on the manufacturer’s instructions as complying with subclause (2).

(4)

A manufacturer or importer who supplies a gas appliance or fitting with manufacturer’s instructions to which this regulation applies commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a level 2 penalty if the manufacturer’s instructions do not comply with subclause (2).
