Marine Safety Charges Amendment Regulations 2010

Pursuant to section 191 of the Maritime Transport Act 1994, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following regulations.

Regulations

1 Title
  • These regulations are the Marine Safety Charges Amendment Regulations 2010.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 1 October 2010.

3 Principal regulations amended
4 Rates of marine safety charges
  • Regulation 7 is amended by revoking subclause (1) and substituting the following subclause:

    • (1) Marine safety charges are payable for each category of ship set out in the first column of the Schedule at the appropriate rate set out in the second column of the Schedule on the basis set out in the third column of the Schedule.

5 Schedule substituted
  • The Schedule is revoked and the Schedule set out in the Schedule of these regulations substituted.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 October 2010, substitute regulation 7(1) and the Schedule of the Marine Safety Charges Regulations 2000. The effect of the regulations is to omit Part 1 of the Schedule that sets out marine safety charges for the 7 months starting on 1 December 2008 and to reduce the rate applicable to foreign passenger ships from $8.29 to $3.30.
