Pursuant to section 363(5) of the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title
  • This order is the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families (Minimum Rates of Payment for Board and Lodgings) Order 2013.

2 Commencement
  • By virtue of section 363(8) of the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989, this order comes into force on 1 April 2013.

3 Adjustment of minimum rates of payment in respect of board and lodgings of children and young persons
  • The minimum rates of payment made, pursuant to section 363 of the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989, to persons and organisations in whose charge a child or young person is placed pursuant to section 362 of that Act are increased by 0.61%.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 April 2013, increases the minimum rates of payment made to persons and organisations in whose charge a child or young person is placed under the Children, Young Persons, and Their Families Act 1989. Those rates may be found at:

The increase of 0.61% reflects (as required by section 363(5) of that Act) the annual increase in the New Zealand Consumers Price Index from the December 2011 quarter to the December 2012 quarter (calculated for all quarters using the CPI All Groups excluding cigarettes and other tobacco products).
