Pursuant to section 3(2) of the Rates Rebate Act 1973, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title
  • This order is the Rates Rebate (Specified Amounts) Order 2013.

2 Commencement
  • This order comes into force on 1 July 2013.

3 Specified amounts replaced
  • (1) In the Rates Rebate Act 1973, section 3(1)(a)(ii), replace $23,650 with $23,870.

    (2) In the Rates Rebate Act 1973, section 3(1)(b), replace $590 with $595.

4 Revocation
5 Savings
  • A ratepayer's entitlement to a rebate for a rating year ending on or before the commencement of this order, and the amount (if any) of that rebate, must be determined as if this order had not been made.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 July 2013, amends section 3(1) of the Rates Rebate Act 1973. Section 3(1) provides for the payment of rates rebates to certain residential ratepayers. This order increases the maximum rebate from $590 to $595 and the income abatement threshold for calculating rebates from $23,650 to $23,870.
