Pursuant to section 2(2) of the Legislation Act 2012, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Legislation Act Commencement Order 2013.

2 Commencement of most remaining provisions of Legislation Act 2012

The following provisions of the Legislation Act 2012 come into force on 5 August 2013:

Subparts 1 and 2 of Part 2:

(b)
(d)

the Schedule (except the items relating to the Biosecurity Act 1993).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings into force on 5 August 2013 most of the balance of the Legislation Act 2012. The provisions brought into force by this order are—

  • subpart 1 of Part 2 (publishing legislation):

  • subpart 2 of Part 2 (reprints):

  • Part 3 (subordinate legislation: disallowable instruments and incorporation of material by reference):

  • the remaining provisions of section 77 and most of the Schedule (repeals, consequential amendments, and savings provisions).

The only provisions not brought into force by this order are the items in the Schedule that would consequentially amend the Biosecurity Act 1993. It is intended that those items will be replaced by an amending Act.

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Legislation Act Commencement Order 2013 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.

2 Legal status

A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.

Section 78 of the Legislation Act 2019 provides that this consolidation, published as an electronic version, is an official version. A printed version of legislation that is produced directly from this official electronic version is also an official version.
