Pursuant to section 6 of the Legislation Act 2012, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Legislation (Publication) Order 2013.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 5 August 2013.

3 Authority to publish legislation in printed form

(1)

The Chief Parliamentary Counsel may arrange for copies of legislation to be published in printed form.

(2)

The legislation concerned is—

(a)

Acts enacted by Parliament after the commencement of this order:

(b)

legislative instruments made after the commencement of this order:

(c)

reprints of Acts and legislative instruments, and any reprints of regulations made before the commencement of this order:

(d)

reprints of Imperial enactments and Imperial subordinate legislation:

(e)

any instrument published under section 14 of the Legislation Act 2012 in electronic form.

Every copy of any legislation printed under this order must state that it is issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 5 August 2013, authorises the Chief Parliamentary Counsel to print legislation in hard copy form.

Section 6 of the Legislation Act 2012 requires the Chief Parliamentary Counsel to publish legislation electronically. This is done on the Parliamentary Counsel Office’s New Zealand Legislation website (www.legislation.govt.nz). The printing of legislation for the public can be authorised or directed by Order in Council. A list of places where printed legislation can be bought is located on the Parliamentary Counsel Office’s corporate website (www.pco.parliament.govt.nz).

1 General

This is a consolidation of the Legislation (Publication) Order 2013 that incorporates the amendments made to the legislation so that it shows the law as at its stated date.

2 Legal status

A consolidation is taken to correctly state, as at its stated date, the law enacted or made by the legislation consolidated and by the amendments. This presumption applies unless the contrary is shown.

Section 78 of the Legislation Act 2019 provides that this consolidation, published as an electronic version, is an official version. A printed version of legislation that is produced directly from this official electronic version is also an official version.

3 Editorial and format changes

The Parliamentary Counsel Office makes editorial and format changes to consolidations using the powers under subpart 2 of Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. See also PCO editorial conventions for consolidations.
