Climate Change (Waste) Amendment Regulations 2013

Pursuant to section 163 of the Climate Change Response Act 2002, His Excellency the Governor-General makes the following regulations, acting—

  • (a) on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and

  • (b) on the recommendation of the Minister for Climate Change Issues made after complying with the requirements in sections 163(5) and 166(1) of that Act.


1 Title
  • These regulations are the Climate Change (Waste) Amendment Regulations 2013.

2 Commencement
  • These regulations come into force on 12 December 2013.

3 Application
  • These regulations apply on and from 1 January 2013.

4 Principal regulations
5 Regulation 5 amended (Method of calculating emissions from operating disposal facilities)
  • In regulation 5(1), item C, paragraph (a), replace 1.10 with 1.31.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 12 December 2013 but apply from 1 January 2013, amend the Climate Change (Waste) Regulations 2010. The effect of the amendment is to update the default emissions factor used in calculating emissions from operating disposal facilities, so that it aligns with new global warming potentials.
