Note

The Parliamentary Counsel Office has made editorial and format changes to this version using the powers under subpart 2 of Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.

Note 4 at the end of this version provides a list of the amendments included in it.

This order is administered by the Parliamentary Counsel Office.

Pursuant to section 2(2) of the Legislation Act 2012, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Legislation Act Commencement Order (No 2) 2013.

2 Commencement of certain item in Schedule of Legislation Act 2012

The item relating to the Biosecurity Act 1993 in the Schedule of the Legislation Act 2012 comes into force on 1 February 2014.

Rebecca Kitteridge,
Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order brings the Legislation Act 2012 (the Act) completely into force on 1 February 2014. A previous commencement order, the Legislation Act Commencement Order 2013, brought into force on 5 August 2013 almost all of the provisions of the Act that had been dormant before that date. However, the consequential amendments to the Biosecurity Act 1993 set out in the Schedule of the Act were excluded from the previous commencement order because they amended provisions that had been superseded by later legislation. Those consequential amendments can now be brought into force because they have been brought up to date by the recently enacted Legislation Amendment Act 2013.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 12 December 2013.
