Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations, which come into force on 1 July 2014, amend the Road User Charges Regulations 2012 (the principal regulations), by—
inserting a new definition of motor caravan, which relates to the descriptions of new RUC vehicle types 413 and 414 (as inserted into Part 1 of the Schedule of the principal regulations by these regulations):
amending the Schedule, which prescribes RUC vehicle types and RUC weight bands for RUC vehicles (including type H vehicles). The changes—
prescribe new RUC vehicle type numbers 413 and 414 for motor caravans with 3 axles and 4 axles in Part 1 of the Schedule; and
consequentially amend current RUC vehicle type numbers 6 and 14 in Part 1 of the Schedule to exclude motor caravans with 3 axles and 4 axles from the description of those RUC vehicles; and
prescribe a new type H vehicle number H38 in Part 2 of the Schedule; and
renumber the current type H vehicle type numbers H38 and H39 as H75 and H76 in Part 2 of the Schedule.
The effect of the amendments is that rates of road user charges may be specified for these RUC vehicles in regulations made under section 85 of the Road User Charges Act 2012.
