Pursuant to section 78A of the Animal Welfare Act 1999, Her Excellency the Administrator of the Government makes the following order, acting—

(a)

on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and

(b)

on the recommendation of the Minister for Primary Industries made in accordance with that section.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Animal Welfare (Codes of Welfare—Review Date Extension) Order 2014.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 1 October 2014.

3 Review dates extended

(1)

This clause applies to the requirement under section 78(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999 for the National Animal Welfare Advisory Committee to review codes of welfare at intervals of not more than 10 years.

(2)

The date by which the following codes of welfare must be reviewed for the first time is extended to 1 December 2016:

(a)

Animal Welfare (Circuses) Code of Welfare 2005:

(b)

Animal Welfare (Zoos) Code of Welfare 2005.

4 Revocation of this order

This order is revoked on 2 December 2016.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order is the Animal Welfare (Codes of Welfare—Review Date Extension) Order 2014. It comes into force on 1 October 2014.

The order applies to the requirement under section 78(1) of the Animal Welfare Act 1999 for codes of welfare to be reviewed at intervals of not more than 10 years. It extends to 1 December 2016 the date by which codes of welfare for circuses and zoos must be reviewed for the first time.

The order revokes itself on 2 December 2016.
