Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 19 January 2015, amend the Road User Charges (Infringement Offences) Regulations 2012. The amendment inserts a new infringement offence and fee in relation to breaches of conditions under which an exemption is granted under section 40 of the Road User Charges Act 2012. That section authorises the RUC collector to grant exemptions in respect of light RUC vehicles used almost exclusively off-road. An exemption is subject to any conditions prescribed in regulations made under section 89 of that Act.
