Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 April 2015, amend the Veterans’ Support Regulations 2014 (the principal regulations).

Regulation 42 of the principal regulations prescribes the rates of veteran’s pension payable under Part 6 of the Veterans’ Support Act 2014 (the Act). Section 170 of the Act provides for the rates of veteran’s pension to be adjusted every year. These regulations amend regulation 42 of the principal regulations to adjust the rates of veteran’s pension payable in accordance with section 170.

These regulations also add a new regulation 70A and new Schedule 3 to the principal regulations. The provisions adjust the amounts of certain entitlements payable under the War Pensions Act 1954 that continue to be paid in accordance with Part 1 of Schedule 1 of the Act. The adjustment increases the amounts by 0.51%, which reflects the increase in the Consumers Price Index (All Groups) excluding cigarettes and other tobacco products between the December 2013 quarter and the December 2014 quarter.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 19 March 2015.
