Pursuant to section 32 of the Ombudsmen Act 1975, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Ombudsmen Act (Schedule 1—Ministry for Women) Order 2015.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 1 December 2015.

3 Part 1 of Schedule 1 of Ombudsmen Act 1975 amended

(1)

In the Ombudsmen Act 1975, Schedule 1, Part 1, repeal the item relating to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs.

(2)

In the Ombudsmen Act 1975, Schedule 1, Part 1, insert in its appropriate alphabetical order:

Ministry for Women

Michael Webster,
Clerk of the Executive Council.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 December 2015, amends the Ombudsmen Act 1975 by replacing the reference to the Ministry of Women’s Affairs in the list of government departments in Part 1 of Schedule 1 with a reference to the Ministry for Women.

The name of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs will change to the Ministry for Women by exercise of the Crown’s prerogative on 1 December 2015.

The effect of this order is that both the Ombudsmen Act 1975 and the Official Information Act 1982 will apply to the Ministry for Women after the name change.
