These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Social Development.

These regulations are made under section 132AC of the Social Security Act 1964 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Regulations

1 Title

These regulations are the Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Amendment Regulations 2016.

2 Commencement

These regulations come into force on 4 April 2016.

3 Principal regulations

These regulations amend the Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004 (the principal regulations).

4 Schedule 1 amended

(1)

In Schedule 1, replace clause 1(a) with:

(a)less than $800 a week$5.00 per hour
(ab)$800 or more but less than $1,200 a week$4.00 per hour

(2)

In Schedule 1, replace clause 2(a) with:

(a)less than $920 a week$5.00 per hour
(ab)$920 or more but less than $1,380 a week$4.00 per hour

(3)

In Schedule 1, replace clause 3(a) with:

(a)less than $1,030 a week$5.00 per hour
(ab)$1,030 or more but less than $1,540 a week$4.00 per hour

(4)

In Schedule 1, revoke clause 4.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 4 April 2016, amend Schedule 1 of the Social Security (Childcare Assistance) Regulations 2004 to increase the rates of childcare and OSCAR subsidies payable to principal caregivers in the lowest household income group with 1 or more dependent children and to revoke clause 4, which is now spent.
