These regulations are administered by the Ministry for Primary Industries.
These regulations are made under section 62 of the National Animal Identification and Tracing Act 2012—
on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and
on the recommendation of the Minister for Primary Industries made after being satisfied that the requirements in section 60 of that Act have been complied with.
These regulations are the National Animal Identification and Tracing (Levies) Amendment Regulations 2016.
These regulations come into force on 1 July 2016.
Regulations: confirmed, on 17 December 2016, by section 15 of the Subordinate Legislation Confirmation Act 2016 (2016 No 103).
These regulations amend the National Animal Identification and Tracing (Levies) Regulations 2012 (the principal regulations).
Replace regulation 5(3) with:

An impracticable to tag levy is imposed on an owner of an animal if—
the PICA for the animal (other than a fallow deer of any age or gender or a trophy stag) has decided under regulation 17(2) of the National Animal Identification and Tracing (Obligations and Exemptions) Regulations 2012 that it is impracticable to fit a NAIT device to the animal; and
the animal is slaughtered at a meat processing facility.
Replace regulation 10(3) and (4) with:
The maximum rate for the impracticable to tag levy for a cattle animal or deer is, for 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2019, $18.77 per cattle animal or deer (exclusive of GST).

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations come into force on 1 July 2016 and amend the National Animal Identification and Tracing (Levies) Regulations 2012 (the principal regulations).
Regulation 5(3) is consequentially amended to remove references that have been revoked by the National Animal Identification and Tracing (Obligations and Exemptions) Amendment Regulations 2016.
Regulation 10 is amended to continue the current maximum levy rate of $18.77 for impracticable to tag cattle animals and deer until 30 June 2019.
These regulations are a confirmable instrument under section 47B of the Legislation Act 2012. They are revoked at the close of 30 June 2017 unless earlier confirmed by an Act of Parliament. That stated time is the applicable deadline under section 47C(1)(a) of that Act.
