Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
Notice is given that a mātaitai reserve (to be known as Tuhawaiki Mātaitai Reserve) has been declared under regulation 20 of the regulations (see the Fisheries (Declaration of Tuhawaiki Mātaitai Reserve) Notice 2016). Tuhawaiki Mātaitai Reserve is located in South Island fisheries waters to the south of Timaru. The tangata whenua of the area that includes the reserve are represented by Te Rūnanga o Arowhenua.
Notice is given of the appointment of 16 Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the mātaitai reserve. The powers of the Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki are set out in the regulations.
