This order is made under section 37 of the Road User Charges Act 2012 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Road User Charges (Exemption Period for Light Electric RUC Vehicles) Amendment Order 2016.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 22 September 2016.

3 Principal order
4 Clause 4 amended (Exemption period for light electric RUC vehicles)

In clause 4(b), replace “30 June 2020” with “31 December 2021”.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 22 September 2016, amends the Road User Charges (Exemption Period for Light Electric RUC Vehicles) Order 2012 (the principal order).

The principal order specifies that road user charges are not payable under the Road User Charges Act 2012 in respect of light electric RUC vehicles until 30 June 2020.

The effect of this amendment is to extend the exemption period until 31 December 2021.

The Ministry of Transport produced a regulatory impact statement on 10 March 2016 to help inform the decisions taken by the Government relating to the contents of this instrument.
