These regulations are made under sections 167, 168, and 218(1)(c) of the Land Transport Act 1998 on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council.
These regulations are the Heavy Motor Vehicle Amendment Regulations 2016.
These regulations come into force on 1 February 2017.
These regulations amend the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974 (the principal regulations).
Revoke regulation 5(1).
Revoke regulation 7(1A).
In regulation 12(4), replace “Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2002” with “Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2016”.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 February 2017, amend the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1974 (the principal regulations).
Regulations 4 and 6 amend the principal regulations to reflect the replacement of the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2002 with the Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2016. The Land Transport Rule: Vehicle Dimensions and Mass 2016 comes into force on the same day as these regulations.
Regulations 5 and 7 revoke provisions of the principal regulations relating to fees for permits.
The Ministry of Transport produced a regulatory impact statement on 9 June 2016 to help inform the decisions taken by the Government relating to the contents of this instrument.
