Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 July 2017, consequentially amend the Land Transport (Driver Licensing and Driver Testing Fees) Regulations 1999 (the principal regulations). The amendments align the fit and proper person checking fees specified in the principal regulations with the vetting request fee to be prescribed in the Policing (Cost Recovery) Regulations 2017, which is $8.50 (excluding goods and services tax). Specifically, in Part 5 of the Schedule of the principal regulations, the fee of $28.20 is changed to $9.78 (including goods and services tax). The figure of $9.78 is calculated by multiplying $8.50 by 1.15 and then rounding the product of $9.775 to $9.78. The fee multiples of $28.20 (being $141.00, $112.80, $84.60, and $56.40) are also adjusted (to $48.88, $39.10, $29.33, and $19.55, respectively, using the base figure of $9.775 and then rounding).
