Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 1 April 2018, replace Schedule 3 of the Student Allowances Regulations 1998.

Schedule 3 relates to the accommodation benefit payable under regulation 24(1) (to students other than those to whom regulation 24A applies).

Schedule 3 currently provides that the maximum weekly value of that accommodation benefit is,—

  • for a single student with a supported child or children, $60 per week; and

  • for any other student, $40 per week.

New Schedule 3 ensures that the maximum weekly value of that accommodation benefit is, for any student, $60 per week.

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 29 June 2017.

These regulations are administered by the Ministry of Social Development.
