Explanatory note
This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.
These regulations amend the Climate Change (Other Removal Activities) Regulations 2009. The amendments mainly prescribe requirements for collecting information about, and calculating, removals of greenhouse gases owing to the export of natural gasoline or polyol containing hydrofluorocarbons. The requirements are relevant to section 62 of the Climate Change Response Act 2002.
The amendments come into force and apply as follows:
the amendments relating to the export of polyol containing hydrofluorocarbons come into force on 21 September 2017, but their application is back-dated so that they apply from the start of 1 January 2017 (see new Schedule 1AA):
the amendments relating to the export of natural gasoline come into force on, and apply from the start of, 1 January 2018:
all other amendments come into force on 21 September 2017.
The other amendments include the addition in table 2 in the Schedule (which becomes Schedule 1) of the global warming potential figure for R448A and R449A, which are 2 synthetic greenhouse gas blends.
