Explanatory note

This note is not part of the regulations, but is intended to indicate their general effect.

These regulations, which come into force on 29 June 2018, amend the Veterans’ Support Regulations 2014 (the principal regulations).

These regulations amend Schedule 1 of the principal regulations, which lists the Australian statements of principles that apply to specified medical conditions for the purposes of the Veterans’ Support Act 2014.

The amendments replace statements of principles references for 15 conditions and insert statements of principles references for 3 new conditions. The new conditions are: popliteal cyst, ulnar neuropathy at the elbow, and Zika virus infection.

Three conditions have been renamed, and the associated principles references replaced. These conditions are immersion foot (which is now known as non-freezing cold injury), immune thrombocytopaenic purpura (which is now known as immune thrombocytopaenia), and toxic maculopathy (which is now known as toxic retinopathy).

Issued under the authority of the Legislation Act 2012.

Date of notification in Gazette: 31 May 2018.

These regulations are administered by the New Zealand Defence Force.
