Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Rūnanga o Moeraki. The area/rohe moana is the area from the mouth of the Waitaki River south to the mouth of the Shag River, extending seaward to the limit of the South Island fisheries waters, and inland to the boundaries defined for Te Rūnanga o Moeraki in the Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu (Declaration of Membership) Order 2001.
Notice is given of the reappointment of a Tangata Tiaki/Kaitiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the reappointment at the request of Te Rūnanga o Moeraki.
The powers of Tāngata Tiaki/Kaitiaki are set out in the regulations.
