Explanatory note
This note is not part of the notice, but is intended to indicate its general effect.
The notice relates to a customary food gathering area/rohe moana of the tangata whenua represented by Te Hika o Papauma. The area/rohe moana is an area between the Owahanga and Whareama rivers on the Wairarapa coast, defined in the Fisheries (Kaimoana Customary Fishing) Notice (No. 12) 2003 (Gazette 2003, p 1129).
Notice is given of the cancellation of the appointment of Matai Hamuera Broughton as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana and the appointment of Rosemary Jane Byl as a replacement. Notice is also given of a new appointment of William Joseph Broughton as a Tangata Kaitiaki/Tiaki for the area/rohe moana. The Minister of Fisheries made the cancellation and appointments at the request of Te Hika o Papauma.
The powers of Tāngata Kaitiaki/Tiaki are set out in the regulations.
